Liberation Programs President To Speak At Wilton Church

WILTON, Conn. -- Alan Mathis, president and CEO of Liberation Programs, will discuss how the group supports individuals and their families throughout the lifelong journey of substance abuse recovery at 10 a.m. Sunday at Wilton Presbyterian Church.

Connecticut is in the top 10 percent of states with the highest instances of substance abuse and addiction. Fairfield County has more than 43,000 residents with substance abuse. 

Mathis has 28 years of experience in nonprofit and government executive management working on social services issues confronting low-income families. He is a past president and CEO of the Lower Eastside Service Center, which provides supportive housing, mental health services, addiction treatment, primary health care, employment services and social ventures in New York City. He served as director of the Narcotics Rehabilitation Center at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City and worked as a manager in the city's Human Resources Administration Center
